The waves brushed against the sea shore,
Pardon me, there is no sea shore.
Desolation.
A hidden Atlantis, treasured under the sea,
We are unable to see the rescue boats tracing the surface.
Devastation.

No Realization
“Our home it’s just...gone”, she said.
A little girl, two rummaged piglets. Eyes twinkling with terror; knowing that all is lost, and she’s been found.
Beyond imagination.
Description:
“Submerged” spreads awareness about the global issue of climate change and how it continues to impact the world. The poem recalls a young girl’s experience after the unprecedented destruction of her home. This short and captivating piece further mocks the helpless purpose of the media: reporting the tragedy for the whole world to spectate and casually switch channels soon after.
[Writing Editor's Notes:
"Submerged" tells a story through several different lens: through the eyes of a little girl who loses her home due to rising sea levels, the eyes of a camera lens, and our own eyes, watching from on our couch. This poem addresses a critical and urgent cause" climate change and how it should no longer be debated; climate change is a fact, it is effecting lives and we cannot choose to debate on whether or not we should believe in a fact.]
