She walks past me and I knew the time has come

She radiates heat different from the fireplace during Christmas

Her colorful aura brings upon freedom of the soul, free of care

She flashes an inviting smile

She takes my hand

and I fall in love

with all her 5 faces

She looks like kites flying through a cloudless blue sky

She feels like the cool breeze on my face when I rise from under the ocean water

She smells like pink cotton candy, and I’m on a sky-scraping sugar high

She taste like fresh coconuts, ice cream, and unfamiliar fruits from travel

She sounds like laughter of friends sitting in a circle taking turns telling jokes

Her kisses turn my skin pink from its heat

She takes my hand

and takes my mind away from worries

No longer am I too busy to say goodbye to the sun in the evening

Description:

This poem is about the freedom and fun that summer brings each year. Summertime evokes all our senses: touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing. This poem is a reminder for others and myself to slow down and enjoy the time we have when school is out, the sun is beaming, and experiences are waiting to be had. Now is the time to live the stories we tell at the dinner table during thanksgiving, or at the social event in August. The best parts of us are told through stories like this where we fall in love with the life we live.
