Snaking roots loom under soil--
crickets chirp; light bugs glow--
floating haze from burning fire
and flakey green above your head.
Watch fire sparks rise
and become little twinkles in the sky;
admire the grand oak trees
that cast shadows on rocky soil.
Shiver from the breeze and scary stories;
huddle under warm flannel.
roast s’mores over the fire,
and feel your hands start to tire.
Watch the fire begin to dim
cast the sticks aside--
let it fade.
embrace the breeze
and start to sigh;
what a lovely campfire night.
Description:
“Campfire Joy” uses ounces of nostalgia to remind the readers of the feeling of memories. Specifically, I had in mind to use senses and imagery to connect the reader to the secondary pronoun “your.”
